Blue it is...

If you've been reading my blog... you know that I've been talking about picking colors for my wedding for about... um... the whole time I've been engaged.  Well, that "talking about it" is finally over!

I've decided.  My colors are black, white (well more like ivory or champagne), and blue... like a bruise.  A very pretty bruise might I add!

You see... ever since I was little, I loved the color blue.  On every "all about me" paper, every time a friend or teacher asked, anytime someone said "what color do you want?" or "what color is your favorite?", I said blue.  I still tell my first graders, blue, is my favorite color... and of course I convert some of them from their lame favorite colors to mine-- most of them don't like blue strangely enough.  It is unfortunate they are not as confident in thier favorite colors as I was as a child and they are easily swayed by my expertise in "color conversion".  But anywho- blue is the color of my car, I love wearing blue jeans, Blue is the color of water and the sky (when it's not tornado season in Texas), and blue is just awesome.  There are so many shades of it... light ones, dark ones... purplish ones... cute greenish ones.... but what's cool about that is that they're all still blue.

So when my mother said to me "Carla... it's a summer wedding.  You really need to pick some colors that are summery".  I, of course, said "Blue".  Mom says "No Carla, not like that... like you know, oranges, and yellows, and browns... warm summery hues".  I frowned.  I wanted blue, but mom's are usually right... right?  So for months I toiled with pinks (blech) and browns (eh) and even once decided that I liked Shamrock Green- much to my mothe'rs dismay.  But thsoe colors ended up just not being for me.  I always went back to blue- like a BAD HABIT.  I guess it's just because my roots are planted with blue... they always have been.  I like to think of my love for the color blue as a metaphor for the strength of my love for Josh.

Josh I love you like I love the color blue.  Sometimes, I wish you would wear more blue.  I really like the blue polo you have- you know the one that you wear in the summer!  As long as I love the color blue I will love you- and I've been going on loving blue for 26 years... so nothing to worry about there!

Anywho- for all you who want to hear the actual wedding planning update... here it goes:

My wedding colors are matisse/marine blue, black and cream.  YEAAAAAAAH!

Oh and I'm finally meeting with my awesome wedding planner to make sure I'm on schedule :)

Toodaloo!
